Partner Hugo Chaviano Elected Secretary General of the Inter American Bar Association (IABA)

PRESS RELEASE

Hugo Chaviano, Partner at the Chicago law firm of Sanchez Daniels & Hoffman, LLP and Past President of the Hispanic National Bar Association has been elected Secretary General of the Inter American Bar Association (IABA) during its Annual Conference which was held in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 16th through the 19th.

The IABA was founded on May 16, l940 by a group of distinguished lawyers and jurists representing forty-four professional organizations and seventeen nations of the western hemisphere. The organization is headquarted in Washington, D.C. The IABA provides a permanent forum for the exchange of professional views and information for lawyers to promote the Rule of Law and protect the democratic institutions in the Americas.

Participants in the organization include the Union Internationale de Avocats (UIA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Canadian Bar Association, the Consejo General de la Abogacia Española (Spain), the Asociacion Internacional de Jovenes Abogados (AIJA), the Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB), Instituto dos Advogados Brasileiros, Ordre des Avocats de Paris, the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), several Bar Associations from Argentina, Colegio Antioqueno de Abogados-Colegas from Medellín, Colombia, Colegio de Abogados de Costa Rica, Colegio de Abogados de Chile, Colegio de Abogados de Pichincha,Ecuador, Colegio de Abogados y Notarios de Guatemala, Barra Mexicana de Abogados, Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Lima, Colegio de Abogados de Puerto Rico, Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Venezuela.
